V International Symposium on Single-Session Therapies (SST5): after Rome, fly to Chicago

Flavio e Federico

After the IV International Symposium on Single Session Therapy held in Rome in November 2023, organized by the Italian Center for Single Session Therapy, Northwestern University’s Scalable Mental Health Laboratory has recently announced the fifth edition of the International Symposium on Single-Session Therapies (SST5), which will be held from 27 to 29 June 2025, Hyatt Centric Chicago Magnificent Mile, at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, USA.

What is the purpose of the event?

The international event organised by the SST5 Committee, coordinated by Dr. Jessica L.Schleider, Director of the Lab for Scalable Mental Health and Associate Professor at Northwestern University, to which Flavio Cannistrà handed the torch at the end of the last Symposium organized by the Team of the Italian Center for Single Session Therapy,  is again proposed as a unique opportunity to explore and expand the use of single-session approaches for population mental health.

SST5 will act as a catalyst for connection, collaboration and innovation, bringing together experts, emerging leaders and practitioners from around the world to discuss the latest discoveries and practical applications of these scalable approaches.

Key event for professionals and researchers

The Symposium will offer participants an opportunity to learn from leading experts in the fields of research, industry, non-profit organisations and health policy.

Through a series of presentations, interactive workshops and clinical demonstrations, participants will be immersed in the most current issues concerning the design, evaluation and dissemination of Single Session Therapy in different contexts, such as primary care, Schools, mental health clinics, online platforms and emergency settings.

A training and refresher programme for the Mental Health Community

One of the main objectives of SST5 is to provide training and refresher courses for both students and mental health professionals. Through hands-on, interactive workshops, participants will develop new skills and deepen their knowledge in the field of single session therapies, thus helping to bridge gaps in mental health care systems globally.

Towards the democratization of Mental Health Care

This year’s theme, “Broadening Single-Session Approaches to Population Mental Health“, reflects the Symposium’s commitment to making mental health care more accessible and scalable.

The aim of SST5 is to help democratise access to these therapeutic approaches, making them available to an increasing number of people, so that mental health needs can be met effectively and in a timely manner worldwide.

With the participation of academics, clinicians, policy makers and industry leaders including the Italian Center for Single Session Therapy, SST5 is set to be a crucial event for anyone involved in mental health and health policy. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a global movement that is redefining the future of single-session therapies.
